The youngest of the Kimball clan, Trent aspired to a life of public service like his big brother Marty and many of the men of the family, going back generations. Unlike his older brother, he wasn’t blessed with his family’s physique, instead, he took more to his sister’s genes and displayed an aptitude for learning and catching details. He ran cross country in high school and took third place in the eastern Mass state semi finals when several other runners injured themselves on a hazard in the muddy course. He got by with solid B’s in high school, never doing enough to excel but also never close to getting in trouble for his grades.

After high school, Trent enrolled in the MA state police academy certain of his abilities and convictions. For the first time in his life, he would apply himself. There was no doubt in his mind that he’d make detective after a year or two of patrol duty and then he could start to really shine. After failing the written exam the second time however, he caught on to the fact that his long-time discouraged courtship of a certain state police captain’s daughter might be the cause of his sudden academic ineptitude. Shortly after resigning himself to the lesser role of private investigator, she dumped him for an up and coming sergeant she was cheating on him with anyway. Judging by the makeup covered bruises under her eye that he could just barely make out when last Trent saw her, they’re off to happy start.

Trent gets by with a bit of work here and there hunting down cheating spouses which he seems to have a penchant for. Whenever he’s at risk of not affording the next month’s rent, he often gets through it playing cards. He’s quick enough to count them and hasn’t ever won enough at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun to let on that he’s able to play the system. For pastimes, whenever he’s not out catching an adulterer, you could find him in his shitty apartment listening to the police scanner or out at the range with the few cops that still call him friend.
